The North American Brass Band Association Champion, Triangle Brass Band, gives an encore performance of their winning competition program in a concert also featuring the Wind Ensembles from Ligon Middle School and Enloe High School. Each band will feature a work from Gustav Holst’s The Planets and many other band classics.

Robert C. Hunter, Enloe High School
Mr. Robert C. Hunter has served as Director of Bands at William G. Enloe High School in Raleigh, NC since 2000. The Enloe band program is well balanced and well known throughout the state. Mr. Hunter formerly served as conductor of the Triangle Wind Ensemble and the Triangle Brass Band, both outstanding adult community bands.
Mr. Hunter received undergraduate degrees in Music Education and Applied Trumpet from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Robert also received his MA in Instrumental Conducting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Graduate Assistant to composer and conductor Jack Stamp.
A National Board Certified Teacher Mr. Hunter has taught all levels in the public schools of NC and has just completed his twenty-fourth year as a Band Director. Robert lives happily with his wife Jenny and his boys Jackson (8 years) and Brody (5 years) in Cary.
Renee Todd, Ligon Middle School
Ms. Todd is currently in her sixth year as Director of Bands at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School and twenty-fifth year of teaching music. Under the direction of Ms. Todd the Ligon Band program has grown to over 200 band members, with four wind bands and a jazz ensemble achieving superior ratings at both local and national music festivals. The Ligon Band was chosen to perform for the NC Music Educators Convention in 2015 and the Music For All Southeastern Regional Concert Band Festival in Atlanta in 2017. Ms. Todd was awarded Band Director of the Year for the NC Central District in 2016 and Jazz Educator of the Year for NC Central Region in 2018.
In 1993, Ms. Todd received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Maryland College Park, where she studied under John Wakefield, Emerson Head and L Richmond Sparks. While in college Ms. Todd was drum major and trumpet section leader of the Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band and recipient of the Otto Sibenachen- Most Outstanding Musician in the top wind band at Maryland.
Before her appointment at Ligon, Ms.Todd was nominated Teacher Of The Year at both Dillard Drive and Wendell Middle Schools. She has served for site host for the Central District Band MPA and Wake All County Band. Ms. Todd is a member of the National Association for Music Education, National Band Association, the North Carolina Music Educators Association and Tau Beta Sigma.
As an active guest clinician and conductor, Ms Todd is scheduled to direct several NC District Middle School Bands including the Northwest District 2018, South Central District 2019 and South Eastern District 2020 Honor Bands. Ms. Todd has conducted the Red Jr and Blue Jr Bands at UNCG Summer Music Camp, the Eastern, Central and Western Region Middle School Jazz Bands and the North Carolina Area Independent Schools Honor Band. She has also served as a guest clinician for the Cleveland, Durham and Johnston All County Bands. Ms. Todd is an active freelance trumpeter as well as a private instructor in the Triangle area.
