Highlighting music from the United Kingdom, the Triangle Youth Brass Bands present their 2018-2019 season opening concert, Strictly British. The program includes popular music from the Beatles, Queen, and the James Bond soundtrack, as well as original brass band works including Henry the Fifth by Ralph Vaughn Williams. Our featured soloist is Triangle Brass Band soprano cornet, Mitch Townley, performing Philip Sparke’s Flowerdale.

SPECIAL GUEST

Mitch Townley, Eb Soprano Cornet

Mitchell Townley serves as the E-flat Soprano Cornet player for the Triangle Brass Band. He earned his Bachelor’s of Instrumental Music Education from Appalachian State University in 2016. While at Appalachian State, he competed in the National Trumpet Competition Semi-Finals in 2015 and 2016, as well as performing as a soloist with the Appalachian Wind Ensemble. Mitchell is the Band director at North Johnston High School in Kenly, NC. In 2017, he was named “Beginning Teacher of the Year” for North Johnston High School. When not at North Johnston, Mitchell maintains a private Trumpet studio and works as a freelance trumpet player. He resides with his partner Kallie, and their dog, Percy, in Garner, NC.
